Dr.
Michael Shopshire is a psychologist who is an expert in emotion
control and has conducted research in this area for over 20 years.
The National Institute on Health has funded his research and
the United States Department of Health and Human Services has
published and nationally distributed Anger Management for
Substance Abuse and Mental Health Patients (coauthored with
Dr. Patrick Reilly). In addition to his research on emotions,
Dr. Shopshire has received national recognition for his innovative
work in personality assessment. With Dr. Kenneth Craik, he pioneered
the use of video recording equipment to study personality characteristics
of business managers as they interacted and made decisions in
real-world business settings.
Dr. Shopshire has held the position
of Research Scientist in the Department of Psychiatry, University
of California, San Francisco, where he taught and conducted research.
He has also worked as a Senior Assessment Psychologist at the
Institute of Personality Assessment and Research, where he assessed
business managers and studied personality characteristics associated
with high performance on decision-making and management tasks.
Dr. Shopshire has published widely in the fields of psychology
and psychiatry, and has developed numerous psychological assessment
measures.
Currently
the editor of Innerworth.com's Mind Over Markets newsletter,
Dr. Shopshire has worked with the pioneering website since 2000.
He created their assessment profile, wrote The Winning
Trader, Developing a Mental Edge for Market Success
and interviewed such traders as ________________, ____________________
and ________________ for their popular Master Interview series,
patterned after the Market Wizards series of books.
Using his experience in the field
of personality assessment, coupled with six years of studying
the behaviors or traders, Dr. Shopshire now works with individual
traders to get at the personal traits that might be limiting
their overall success in the markets.
Dr. Shopshire received his B.A.
degree in psychology from the University of Southern California,
and his Ph.D. in psychology from the University of California,
Berkeley.
